There is a movement in the marketing circles for web analytics certification, separate from the training sessions offered by various firms. The Web Analytics Association, for example, has been developing a certification exam program for practitioners to hone skills and continue development in the field.

Separately Google Analytics has offered a way to verify exam passage of its Google Analytics Individual Qualification (IQ) program. Individuals who passed the test have not had a logo or symbol to show on their individual website, while firms such as Epik or LunaMetrics can display the authorized consultant logo. The verification eliminates this divide to a degree. Individuals can now share a link to the exam, even their score, to indicate their expertise. There is still no label, but certification is now verifiable.

You can check out more about the verification at the Google Analytics blog.

The IQ test is not a new offering. Google has quietly offered the test since offering the Google Analytics code (There's also a similar IQ test for Adwords.).
